RULES & GUIDELINES

  1. We are a Ryotei and immersive RP venue, not a traditional Nightclub.
    We ask that patrons be fully and modestly clothed. Bare chests, Bikinis, Electrical Tape, and other barely covering attire is discouraged unless it's a theme night where it would be on theme.

  2. We require players to be 18+ and prefer guests to all be adults.

  3. Keep all explicit content AND SPOILERS to /tell and /party.

  4. No minions.
    See a member of staff if your OC has an IC disability minion. EX: Allergy sniffing dog.

  5. At Moonrise Ryōtei, we acknowledge all guests as Warriors of Light and fellow Scions.
    We only ask that you use generic terms like Partner, Husband, or Wife when referring to NPC ships in Say.

  6. Consent is King!
    If someone is pressuring you into RP or inappropriate things when you have clearly told them no, alert a member of staff IMMEDIATELY as we do not abide such behavior in our venue. This includes Coersion.
    - Make sure you have screenshots of it happening in chat as our management will ask for them.

  7. Wifi is a privilege, not a right.
    - Try and stay below 350k Triangles and 500MB.
    - No lewd outfits or animations.

  8. Hosts and Courtesans must be booked to guarantee their presence.
    Our Cast has fun roleplaying with our customers, however guests should be aware that staff that are not booked ahead for dates have no obligation to be in the venue on a given night. If you want to guarantee a specific person's presence, it would be best to book them in advance in our discord.
    Otherwise, our nightly cast is a box of chocolates: you never know what you're going to get!

Behaviors that are grounds for an immediate Venue Ban:

  • Engaging in or attempting to engage in NSFW with Companion Staff as canonically or visually underage characters, both NPC or OC. (Including Lalas)

  • Any Violation of rule 6.

  • Violating the Lewd clause of rule 7.

  • Being a consistent nuisance to staff and guests in a way that prevents the safe operation of the venue.

  • Behavior that risks the safety of staff and
    guests, such as doxxing, harassment, or open discussion of 3rd party optional content (per Yoshi-P's statement here).

  • RMT Behavior.

  • Coming in solely to be OOC disruptive, including advertising without prior approval.

What is a Ryōtei?

A ryōtei (料亭) is a type of traditional Japanese restaurant. Traditionally, ryōtei only accepted new customers by referral and feature entertainment by geisha, but in modern times this is not always the case. Ryōtei are typically places where high-level business or political meetings can take place discreetly.Ryōtei were common to Japanese towns no matter the size until the 1960s, when their use began to decline in favor of hotels and nightclubs as places for entwining business with entertainment. In 1993, then-Prime Minister Morihiro Hosokawa made a declaration to cease the use of Ryōtei by government officials, effectively rendering them not only unpopular for politicians, but businessmen as well.The declining use of geisha and ryōtei have led to a relaxation of the exclusivity and secrecy used in their services, such as to advertise on the internet, post prices for services, and accepting new clientele without a reference from a well-established patron.

What is required for a business
to be considered a Ryōtei?

Being a ryōtei means having a sophisticated facility that meets certain requirements and standards. First, the cuisine must incorporate traditional techniques and seasonal variation. In addition, the facilities must offer tatami mat rooms that can accommodate proper Japanese-style parties; a Japanese garden that showcases the changing of the seasons; and a stage that can host Noh, kyogen, and traditional dance.

Why build a Ryōtei in FFXIV?

Nightclubs, casinos, brothels, and cafes are a dime a dozen in the FFXIV RP community. However, our owner wanted to present a more elegant and immersive experience, creating something that stands out from other venues. We made the name transition in October of 2025, but in August of 2026, we remodeled and resumed our companionship program to bring us more in line with the historical concept of a real-world Ryōtei.We also offer some services like an Onsen (hot spring) inn or a Bed and Breakfast with themed inn rooms that you can rent.

History of our Venue

In Japan, most ryōtei have a storied history, and so do we!Slideshow at the end.

The Saga Begins

Moonrise Ryōtei began life as Panth's Cat-fe, in a FC room on Jenova in May of 2022.In March of 2023, it evolved in its original room to seat more guests and in April 2023, Panthanaea acquired her first small house in The Goblet, where the main floor was the venue and using the basement as a private office.In September 2023, the venue successfully moved to Shirogane, where it resided until February of 2025. Through all of these early years, Panthanaea ran the venue herself and only in her spare time when she was adventuring across the star. (Finishing MSQ through DT)

Exploding on the Scene

In January 2025, she decided that she needed to move the venue and her efforts to another DC because of how locked down tight Aether was due to overpopulation, so she made the move to Golem and purchased a small house in Mist. Within 3 days of purchasing the plot, the venue was set up and ready to open. The business began to boom, so much so that the first members of staff were hired to help keep up with business, and we brought on our first batch of NPC companions.In April, the Free Company was able to buy property and the venue had raised enough capital to afford a medium with a little help from a generous investor and friend. Once it was purchased, the staff and other friends of the owner furnished it in a single night, crafting and all. Included in the new build was a large ballroom and a reception hall for weddings and other banquets, a concept near and dear to the owner's heart.

The Umbra Era

Conflicts arose among members of staff as gatherings of people are wont to do, then turnout began to diminish. Panthanaea was running herself ragged trying to ensure everyone was paid because she has run IRL businesses many times and brought that "paychecks first" attitude into the FFXIV sphere. Various concerns were raised over and over by a particular member of staff that caused her to continuously make rules that twisted the venue out of her vision for it.In July of 2025 came the day she had been dreading: a member of staff was revealed to not only be behind the dropping attendance but an active exodus from the community. The issue had to be handled in a specific way due to the staff member's history of controlling the narrative and using DARVO to malign their victims. This unfortunately had to happen on a day that Panthanaea was unwell, leading to further burnout. By mid-August, the burnout was intense, and Panthanaea was struggling to not drive people off with her own struggles the way the malefactor had, leaving her feeling isolated and unsupported.In late July, a crash-out happened when some people she had confided in about her struggles with PTSD pushed triggers that they were warned about, and the entire community crashed down. Everything happened so fast that no one had or took time to calm down before people were losing their own cool with her over losing her cool in private DMs with one person. It resulted in a lot of hurt feelings all around and people feeling like she wasn't taking accountability because she was being chewed out non-stop in DMs, making it impossible to take time to calm down enough that she could phrase things in a way that showed she was owning her part while still expressing her own hurt at the other people's parts.
 

"I did not handle the situation well, and that is on me. They were told of a trauma that they then used (likely unintentionally) to trigger a meltdown, which is on them. All around, the situation was handled very poorly by the parties directly involved, and the spreading of the private conversation, without the context of the trauma being shared prior, resulted in the situation looking like I was entirely off my rocker; an understandable conclusion. The lack of cool off time led to responses from me to certain others that did not help as well, and I deeply regret not taking the time I should have to cool off before I lost some people who were very important to me.""This event is actually why I now require context in addition to screenshots from others when drama comes to my door, because I know firsthand that context matters. I also now set better boundaries about people bringing issues to me on certain days to enforce me getting a chance to cool off."- Panthanaea

The Rebirth

After this affair, Panthanaea nearly called it quits on the venue, but the remaining staff convinced her that what she needed was a rest before making that decision, so the venue closed for roughly a month while Panthanaea recentered, got IRL help, and decided what her next steps would be. This is when the Ryotei concept was born.A windfall of gil from a commission to build a website for a major community event allowed Panthanaea to buy the venue a Large, and the venue reopened in Shirogane in October 2025 under the name Moonrise Ryōtei. Since then, it has been an elegant, eastern-themed restaurant run the same as an IRL restaurant in many ways.We hosted our first Balls in December, January, and February with sizeable turnouts, but due to Panthanaea bringing in certain DJs, the identity of the venue got lost with the new faces, with all of them assuming we were a nightclub. This misconception became something that we corrected in the Q1 2026 issue of DEGEN Magazine and on our social medias.

The Realignment

During the first quarter of 2026, Panthanaea realized that she was again twisting her vision out of shape for a staff member, and she began to evaluate how to bring the venue back in line with her vision: that of a venue that could be unapologetically and playfully saucy without being explicit while providing an elegant and thematic immersive experience.When our Spring 2026 community poll came in, there were three things most guests wanted to see: Bards, our Date program back, and a second night.

  • In May 2026, we began hiring bards.

  • In June 2026 we revived the Date program

  • In July 2026 we added a Wednesday open by reviving Panth's Cat-fe, as well as adjusting the Ryōtei's hours back to what we had been the year before.

We also announced that in August 2026, we would remodel and refresh our business model to accommodate more companionship, the guests that mistook us for a nightclub, our Bards' communities, and our staff's availability.This is where the venue is today, and we hope to continue to grow to serve our community in the way only we can: with commitment to the safety of our community, immersive and engaging experiences, consistency of customer service, and the elegance and grace you have come to expect.

    (This includes any alts representing canonically under 18 NPCs, such as Alphinaud, Alisaie, Ryne, and Gaia, regardless of if you age them up‡ )

  • Lalafells are only allowed to book SFW and only if the actor has indicated on their profile that they take Lala clients.‡

The banquet hall can seat 56 guests and 6 guests of honor on a stage, or a total of 60 guests when the stage is replaced by banquet tables. Rental includes staff, service, and stat food for all assembled, as well as a soundtrack option. You will have access to the venue and yard for your allotted time based on your package, and we will work with you to ensure everything goes according to plan and no detail is overlooked for your special day.
